Below is a little bit of info on the breed.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a toy breed that weighs between 5.9kg and 10kg. They come in four different colours; Blenheim, Tricolor, Ruby and Black and Tan. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a happy and very friendly little dog always looking for ways to please its owners.
Their friendly and outgoing personality makes them wonderful family pets to both young and old, they also do very well with other breeds of dogs and other animals. Cavaliers can be very sporty and athletic and excel in agility and other dog sports. They are also very happy to lounge about on a sofa with their owners. Cavaliers make wonderful little therapy dogs as well.
Cavaliers are medium to high maintenance in grooming. Daily brushing is needed to keep their coats matt free and weekly carding to remove the old undercoat. Weekly bathing is reccomended to keep their coats in good condition.
Cavaliers love to be around their human’s and because of this they tend to suffer from separation anxiety and only do well in homes where there is a family member at home during the day. Cavaliers have a high prey drive and enjoy chasing birds and butterflies, because of this it is important that they do not have the opportunity to get out of their garden as they are not street smart and get themselves into trouble very easily.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels suffer from a few health issues like mitral valve disease (MVD), syringomyelia (SM), luxating patella, and eye issues. It is very important that new puppy buyers ask the breeder to see health test certificates on both mother and father as well as grandparents to ensure that your puppy is coming from clear lines.
